Display the number 3 on a ten frame. Ask students to say how many there are on the ten frame without having to count.

Have students roll a number cube with dot arrangements. Ask students to say the number rolled without counting the dots.

Use your fingers to represent 9. Ask students, without counting, to tell you how many fingers you are holding up.

Display a dot card showing 5 to students. Ask students to make the dot pattern they saw using counters.
